Final thoughts

After I got up today I went to downtown to say goodbye to the rest of my friends here in San Diego. Then I had to pack my luggage. Because of the flight tomorrow I won't write anything. So this post will be the last one concerning my language stay and I'll write down my thoughts about the whole stay and some general things I recognized while being here.

The first thing that comes to my mind when looking back on the time I spent here is, that I had a lot of fun and had the chance to meet so many interesting persons from all over the world. The list of places I would like to visit is huge now.
I've even learned Turkish but Nazmi, the Turkish guy, just didn't understand me. I think his Turkish skills are just not good enough, joking. But for real, my English got a huge boost especially in terms of speaking. Solely the daily interactions with native English speakers helped a lot with pronunciation and gave me a feeling for the language.

San Diego has a nice downtown with many different restaurants with food from all over the world. There are Korean, Italian, Thai, Arabic and many other restaurants, serving delicious foods to good prices. Because it is so close to Mexico there are uncountable Mexican restaurants located here.

The main bus station and all trolley stations give information about departure and destination but most bus stops of other bus lines only have a sign that tells you which bus line this stop belongs to. The stops completely lack information about destination and departure times. Only by looking it up on the internet can one figure out those things.

I saw in my opinion many homeless people, but according to the police there aren't that many crimes in San Diego.

Pretty annoying are the age restrictions in California. If one is under 21 he's often not allowed to enter a bar. I couldn't even go to the gym here because you need to be eighteen to do so.

My host family is friendly and I liked them. With so many people in one house there was always someone to have a laugh with. The only problem with the home stay was the distance to downtown San Diego as it took me about an hour to get there. Usually I just packed everything I would need for the whole day in the morning and carried it with me in the backpack the whole day.

The four weeks here were an amazing time and I would definitely do it again. Time runs so fast if you have school and activities every day, but when I look back there is so much I've done and seen. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog during my stay here.
Good bye
